Zhan Zhao Adventures - Episode 3 and 4 RECAP
!!<
EPISODE 3
In Episode 3 of the TV show Zhan Zhao Adventures, the story shifts from survival to bigger political and martial-arts conspiracies. After surviving earlier attacks, Huo Linglong and the injured Zhan Rifei continue traveling toward the capital with the mysterious boy Chang Hongbi. Along the way, they finally begin trusting each other. Rifei explains the rivalry among the Three Famous Manors and hints at deeper conflicts in the jianghu world.
Their journey is interrupted when Granny Hanshui and members of Hanshui Palace appear to capture Chang Hongbi. Linglong is quickly defeated, forcing the badly poisoned Rifei to fight despite his condition. It’s revealed that Hongbi’s blood once had healing powers because he was raised as a living medicinal vessel, but those powers are fading.
Chang Hongbi emotionally bargains with Granny Hanshui to spare Linglong and Rifei. He explains that he escaped the palace because a fortune-teller predicted he would die young, and he wanted to experience the outside world before then. Before leaving, he realizes Linglong is actually a woman disguised as a man and asks for the name “Huo Xiaodi” as a keepsake.
As the pair head north, government troops close in. Linglong discovers that “Zhan Rifei” is actually the famous Southern Hero, Zhan Zhao. Severely weakened, he entrusts her with an important letter containing evidence of a massive conspiracy tied to Xiangzhou and Prince Zhao.
The episode ends with a major cliffhanger: Zhan Zhao confronts pursuing forces led by Zhong Xiong, defeats him despite his poison, and reaches the ferry — only to find civilians being held hostage by the Xiuluo Cult. Even while near death, he prepares to fight alone to save innocent people.
EPISODE 4
Episode 4 of Zhan Zhao Adventures raises the stakes dramatically, with Zhan Zhao fighting for survival while new allies and enemies emerge. At Xiqiao Ferry, the poisoned Zhan Zhao battles members of the Xiuluo Cult while protecting innocent civilians trapped on the boat. Even weakened, he overwhelms several attackers using his famous martial arts techniques. During the fight, cult leader Mo Dao cruelly sacrifices his own ally Yan Ziqing as a human shield, showing how ruthless the cult truly is. Although Zhan Zhao defeats Mo Dao, his poison worsens and he eventually collapses from exhaustion.
My favorite fight scene so far :)
Before being captured, Zhan Zhao secretly instructs Huo Linglong to travel separately and seek help from his ally Meng Kui. Meanwhile, Shao Jizu discovers that the mysterious fighter traveling with Zhan Zhao is actually his runaway fiancée, Huo Linglong. He tracks her down at an inn and tries manipulating her into returning home, but she accuses him of chasing power and wanting her family’s treasure, the Linglong Eye.
As Shao Jizu overpowers Linglong, a new character finally appears: Bai Yutang. Calm, playful, and highly skilled, he steps in while pretending to be another swordsman. He mocks Shao Jizu for bullying a woman and encourages Linglong to stop hesitating in battle. With his guidance, she regains confidence, and Bai Yutang disables Shao Jizu using a martial arts technique similar to Zhan Zhao’s Heavenward Crane Strike.
Bai Yutang then engineers a rescue plan. While strategist Zhi Hua distracts the guards with a fake prisoner exchange, Bai Yutang and Huo Linglong sneak into the camp and rescue the real Zhan Zhao. During their escape, Bai Yutang examines Zhan Zhao’s condition and confirms that the deadly poison “Old Souls at First Glance” is already destroying his internal organs. Linglong gives Zhan Zhao her family’s special “Linglong Honey,” but Bai Yutang warns it will only delay death unless they find a true cure soon.
