Ticks/Mosquitos

How are the ticks at your lake house this year? So far, I have already pulled several off of me - we do not allow hunting, so there deer are pretty out of control, making the ticks even worse. We treat our yard with BiFen, but it only goes so far, since you cant get it near the water. Any tips or tricks you've seen be effective?

Maybe the only time I am happy about how hilly our lake area is, is mosquito season. There is very little standing water anywhere as it all drains to the lake, making it actually almost mosquito free. I am sure others deal with the issue though, so post your tips.
