Bioscanner is too easy to miss

I don't know if there are more than 1 instance of the bioscanner to be scanned as to obtain it, but I think I've been everywhere on the map and I was completely stuck (needed to scan the turbine part that is broken, couldn't because of "requires unknown tool") until I read a walkthrough telling me I needed the bioscanner.

I went back to where I missed it, and it's in a really inconspicuous location, so easy to miss even though I'm kind of thorough with my scanning.

If there are more than 1 of them, then my apologies I'm really not as thorough as I thought.

Otherwise, for anyone who missed it, it's a headache figuring out what the hell you're supposed to do after you've restored power to the alien plant.

Either there should be a bunch of them around, of there should be another indication that the bioscanner is what you missed. Getting stuck with "requires unknown tool" is seriously not useful. The "unknown tool" should change after you hear an audio log or something, not after you scan the bioscanner.
