25F confused by emotional mixed signals from 25M
I’ve spent a long time learning to trust my own perception. After dealing with dishonesty in my past, I developed a sharp radar for people's energy, shifts, and motivations. I am straightforward, outspoken, and deeply in tune with my mind and my body. I don't stay quiet for the sake of peace
Recently, my ex and I reconnected. When we met, he was warm, highly affectionate, and entirely consumed by my presence. For me, physical intimacy the deep kisses, the tight hugs, the raw tension, is something beautiful that I don't separate from emotion.
But during our meeting, the moment I chose to stop things from going further physically to demand emotional clarity, things shifted
The next morning, his pride was clearly wounded by the boundary. He sent me long paragraphs trying to devalue my confidence, lecturing me on the kind of women he prefers ("soft and open... not nagging and insecure"). Then, he tried to aggressively downplay the heavy physical tension we had just shared, claiming it meant nothing to him and texting me--
“I made faces a couple of times when we were together and when I was alone I cursed at myself too. Because such physical behaviour doesn’t do anything for me too. Without a stronger emotional attachment, the physical stuff doesn’t do anything for me as well.”
It was almost laughable because his body language in person told a completely different story. He was entirely responsive to my touch, and reaching for me until the exact second I drew the line. The "made faces" comment was a transparent attempt to sting my self-esteem because he didn't get exactly what he wanted
I told him those physical moments were genuine and beautiful for me, because I still have feelings for him even though he does not, and that I would never let him cheapen those moments for me or rewrite history just because I chose to respect my own body
Within minutes, his tone flipped again. He started saying “it’s not you,” admitting to his own “god complex,” and suddenly claiming those physical moments actually felt too meaningful and "deceitful" to him
Looking at this, wasn't he just trying to manipulate the narrative when he loses his grip on a woman?! He tried to use cruelty as a weapon to punish me for a physical boundary, and when that failed, he turned it into a philosophical explanation to save his own ego.
I am posting this because I want to validate my own psychological clarity
