What should I expect?

Teacher Support &/or Advice

Throwaway account. I’m changing nonessential details for privacy. I’m a newer teacher in a large urban public school. I came in mid-year after the class had gone through a long stretch of rotating substitutes. One of my classes has been extremely difficult: constant disruptions, side conversations, phone issues, students trying to bait me, and repeated inappropriate comments. I had been documenting behavior issues for weeks/months through emails, parent contacts, and notes to admin.

Recently, a student/family allegation got escalated, and I was interviewed by campus admin. The allegations were all over the place. They included claims that I called a student “dumb,” made comments about housing, made a comment about only having one pair of shirts/pants, made disparaging comments about Hispanic students, made political/racist comments, and something bizarre about me rubbing my stomach/belly. For context, the housing and clothing comments were comments about myself, not insults toward students. There was also a situation where a student called me “attractive,” and my response was basically that I was not engaging with that. I deny the allegations. A lot of it feels like students twisting things after I had been documenting their behavior.

During the interview, I explained my side and later submitted documentation showing that I had been reporting classroom behavior issues before the allegations blew up. My documentation included prior emails, behavior notes, and screenshots/context showing that some of these students had been crossing boundaries and creating problems before this complaint.

The school/district notified the state educator agency or HR office because of the allegation category, which obviously scared me. But after the interview, I was not placed on administrative leave. I was allowed to keep teaching. I was allowed to do normal school duties/proctoring. I was not pulled from students. There was no second interview by the end of the week, no emergency directive, no request to turn in keys/badge/laptop, and no one told me to stop teaching. Some of the other classroom-management/optics things I had worried about were not brought up at all in the interview.

I know no one here can give legal advice. I’m just asking from a teacher/admin perspective: when a teacher is interviewed over allegations, reported procedurally, but then allowed to keep teaching and nothing else happens by the end of the week, does that usually suggest they are treating it as documentation/CYA rather than immediate serious discipline?

What outcomes would you expect here…..nothing, memo/warning, formal reprimand, leave, termination, etc.? And what should I avoid doing while waiting? My instinct is to say nothing else unless asked and not volunteer extra information.
