Are there any projects that blend rap, hip hop, or rnb with emo/post hc? I’m not referring to trap metal or somewhat emotional rap such as XXXTentacion, but acts that are genuinely inspired by or intwined with emo bands.

I’m aware of Lil Peep, Wicca Phase, and some of the other GBC/thraxx crew as I really enjoy their use of sampling (brand new, mineral, real friends, saosin, death cab, A5A). I’ve definitely grown out of that late 2010s style “emo rap” but I find it very nostalgic.

Furthermore, I find the rise of the gothboyclique era sound to be a little reminiscent of revolution summer (though obviously not the same). The aforementioned more emotional artists came up in a predominantly hypermasculine genre and were going against the grain of the current era of mainstream rap. Similarly to third wave, I’ve heard insults such as “gay”, “whiny”, and “cutting music” in reference to it. Somewhat of the lyricism is also similar, as døves’ acoustic EP could honestly pass as just acoustic emo. There’s also heavy crossover within rap and hardcore. Emo is heavy in genre mixing, but parts of the scene might be too closed off to celebrate something similar.

Sorry for my tangent lol, døves song I mentioned is linked too lol

Any real emo rap?/Is emo rap a thing?
