Small Town Recommendations

My husband and I were both born and raised in CA. He in the greater Bay Area and myself in a small town on the Central Coast. We’ve lived in Nevada for a few years and find ourselves throwing around the idea of moving back.

We’d love to find a small, quiet, relatively affordable (homes/property<500k) rural town, ideally no more than 4ish hours away from the Bay Area. Would prefer for it to be a conservative community where we can raise our kids with likeminded people and possibly have a small farm/homestead. We would prefer to be close enough to a larger city that we have access to anything we might need (such as healthcare) within 30ish minutes but not so close that we feel like we’re living in the middle of the hustle and bustle of thousands of other peoples lives.

Bonus points if it has rolling hills and a great little downtown with local restaurants/businesses and your stereotypical small town summer gatherings!!

This place might only exist in our dreams but if anywhere comes to mind we’d love some recommendations!
