Samsung is facing internal disputes following a new compensation agreement that heavily favors employees in its semiconductor and memory divisions. The deal was introduced to avoid potential labor strikes and includes a special performance bonus tied to the company’s operating profits between 2026 and 2035.

Under current profit projections, memory division employees could receive bonuses of approximately 600 million won, or about $400,000, this year. Semiconductor workers are also set to receive 40 percent of Samsung’s total bonus pool in addition to the special incentive program.

In contrast, employees in Samsung’s mobile division are expected to receive bonuses of around 6 million won, or roughly $4,000. Workers in the LSI division may receive approximately 160 million won, or about $100,000.

The large disparity in payouts has triggered strong backlash. Labor unions representing home appliance and mobile workers plan to seek a court injunction against the agreement, while some shareholders are reportedly considering legal action unless the deal is subjected to a shareholder vote.
