Husband is upset that I’m making him follow safe sleep guidelines
Baby is 8 weeks old today and I went back to work the day he turned 6 weeks. I work day shift Tuesday-Saturday and my husband works 12 hour graves Sunday-Tuesday and a half evening shifts on Wednesday. Tuesdays and Wednesdays we both work and my husband has to be with baby during the day. The past two weeks have been a shitshow of baby not sleeping for him so he hasn’t been sleeping.
He told me today that the past couple days I’ve been at work he’s had baby propped up on a blanket and swaddled on the bed to get him to sleep and he’s been taking naps like that and I obviously got upset. He said it’s fine because his hand is on top of him so he can’t move but I do not trust it. I’ve given him the options of making sure baby is clean and fed and letting him cry in the bassinet as long as he has hand on baby so baby doesn’t think he’s abandoned. I told him that if he’s absolutely desperate he can bed share but it needs to be in the middle of the bed, with a bare bed, and he has to sleep on his back or his stomach so he doesn’t roll on baby. These still aren’t good enough options apparently and now he’s pissed because he feels like I took away his only option for sleep.
I don’t know what to do. I don’t want to fight, I don’t want him sleep deprived, but I’m not budging on this.
