Ranking JCA heterosexual ships (corrected for canon presence)

The Two Dominant Het Ships in JCA

Jackie x Future/Adult Jade (JxJ)

• Currently plausibily the most active and popular ship in the fandom.
• Both Jackie and Jade appear in future episodes, making this pairing technically more canon and grounded than Jackie/Viper continuity-wise.
• Emotional resonance: Jackie as Jade’s “constant,” Jade’s maturity, mentorship evolving into adulthood romance.
• AU flexibility: time travel and alternate timelines are canon, legitimizing “Future Jade” and Adult Jade scenarios.
• Tagged as #jackie x future/adult jade, #popular ship, #endgame, #top ship, #new fandom favorite, and #OTP
• Considered one of the ship fandom’s only “endgame” pairings by canon-backed metrics and widely recognized as the central, and dominant duo pairing of the show.

El Toro x Viper

• Canon presence: explicitly teased in episodes.
• Viper openly flirts with El Toro, even calling him “handsome.”
• Mutual attraction and care is shown on‑screen, official media and artwork usually places them together (even toys) making this pairing more canonical than Jackie/Viper.
• Tagged as #el toro x viper, #canon ship, #underrated pairing.
• While not as prolific in fanworks as JxJ, it’s the second strongest official het ship in terms of canon grounding.

Honorable mentions:

🚫 Downplayed Ships

• probably third- Jackie x Viper: teased but never confirmed, (one-sided flirty archetype at play is not strong enough to call it official), so technically non‑canonical.

• Jade x Hsi Wu: fleeting canon crush but immediately undermined by deception, distrust, illusion. Quite controversial. Any potential romance is put out immediately. large age-gap/predatory-nature/no canon redemption arc. Basically foe-yay which does not fit non-corrupted Jade persona as one of the team members fighting for good of the world.

• Captain Black x Viper: speculative, minor.

• Viper x Valmont: crackship, rare pair.

• Bai Tza x Valmont: dark ship, niche.

• Uncle Chan x Tohru’s mom: humorous crackship. (but does play on the interest through bickering while similar personalities trope + plus shared care for Tohru. The tohru bond acts as a shared tether that ties them together)

• Tohru x Sumo‑lady: canon interest from sumo-lady, but no relationship depicted of shown (which is a darn-shame.)

• Jade x Paco/Drew/Jimmy: minor, barely present. (Paco = annoyance/disgust coming from Jade toward him/doesn't like him badmouthing Jackie and talking about El Toro every 5 secs. About all Jade and Paco have in common is their age. And Jade has a massive maturity/supriority complex when it comes to Paco... when he dons the oni mask it's El Toro that makes him resist its effects... not Jade... and he threatens to basically flay her face while brandishing his claws.. maturity and capability-wise Jade sees his level as far below her own. And one of the main moments of everyone participating in a final battle of sorts.. she tricks him with the sheep talisman without him realizing it. He is kind of gag character who is never included in an episode without El Toro also being in it. (he is not considered a part of the official J-team)

• Drew is portrayed as friend vibes/school rival/braggart only. no deepening or romantic cues. Same with Jimmy.)
