Starting CFI Initial on Tuesday. What to expect?
I’m finally biting the bullet on getting my CFI. I’ve accepted the fact that I’d be shooting myself in the foot by not doing it. That being said, unlike the other ratings I’ve done up to this point, I don’t really know what to expect going into it - aside from needing to take the FOI and FIA writtens and obtaining the spin endorsement.
I had never envisioned getting my CFI when I first started my flight training, and it’s because of that mindset that I’m more nervous than I ever have been; my first lesson is on Tuesday. I haven’t the foggiest idea on how to teach at *all* and I’m not good with psychology, but I know that is something you kind of take a crash-course in during CFI training. The school that I’m going to is quoting me 30 to 40 hours of ground (excluding self study) and 15 to 20 hours of flight.
For those that’ve gone through the process, are there any tips or tricks to making the process go more smoothly and/or helpful things I should know? Thank you!
