At source or on my PC?

I am running Proton Pro VPN. I am not all that tech savvy and am asking advice as to whether or not my VPN exists only on my PC or if it is embedded in my internet connection.

Can the VPN be installed in a modem so that the parent wifi signal is 'protected' no mater what device is linked to it?
