Too soon to downsize?

Hello! I got my snakebites pierced on Monday. They're plain bars with flat backs and plain balls on the outside. Everything went incredibly well and I had virtually zero swelling. It's currently Saturday, and the longer bars are causing me some concerns with gum health.

Since there's no swelling, and I keep catching the damn bars on my teeth, I was wondering if it would be acceptable to get the bars downsized on Monday? The piercings seem to be doing very well, but I'm not sure if a week is too soon to downsize. Most sources said waiting 2-4 weeks to allow for swelling to go down is normal, but the long bars are really affecting my eating/speaking.

TL;DR: Should I downsize my snakebites after only a week because I had no pain or swelling?
