Is it just my Steam going crazy or does the update takes 40 GB of space?

When I went to dowload the DLC, it showed it takes 40 GB of space. I don't even have this much storage space left. Is my Steam crazy? Also the Strinova Icon appears as a blank white paper instead of the symbol in the desktop.
