The 28-80mm lens is compatible with Canon T5

Hi everyone, I'm thinking of buying a lens a little bigger than the 18-55mm that came with my second-hand Canon T5, and I found a 28-80mm lens that has the same mount for $30. I checked if it's compatible and Google says it is, but it would behave like a 45-145mm lens, and that makes me doubt it.
