Does anyone else forget topics even after spending hours studying them?

Something I noticed during studying/interview prep:

Sometimes I understand a topic perfectly while learning it…

…but 3–4 days later I barely remember it.

Especially when the studying becomes:

• rereading notes
• highlighting
• passive revision

What actually helped you retain information better in nursing school?

Flashcards?
Active recall?
Spaced repetition?
Practice questions?
Something else?
