What would you do differently before arriving in Canada?
Hi all! I am a 26 year-old Australian moving to Vancouver in a month on the IEC Working Holiday Visa. Super keen and feeling reasonably prepared, but I'm a little worried about any hurdles that I might not be aware of currently.
So I wanted to pitch the question to those of you who are already in Canada - if you had your time back, what would you have done differently or arranged better before getting on the plane?
This primarily relates to administrative items (e.g. insurances, banking, tax residency, jobs, etc.). I'm specifically wondering about:
- Things that are harder (or more expensive) to arrange once you're already in Canada
- Things you wish someone had told you to prepare for before you left
- The surprises that caught you off guard after arriving
Appreciate any input! Cheers.
