Hey everyone, I want to be completely transparent upfront: I am not making any money off this, it's just a fun passion project, and all the code is completely open-source.

This is a custom Chrome extension I made called BetterFG!

(Full disclosure: it is entirely "vibecoded"—meaning I had an AI write and iterate the code while I guided it with natural language prompts. I can't take credit for writing it by hand, so please don't come at me!)

What does it do?

BetterFG is a purely cosmetic layout skin for a certain popular repack site. There are zero functional or background changes. It's just a visual overhaul inspired by the clean, modern look of sites like AnkerGames to make the browsing experience a bit more user-friendly and relaxing.

Most new users visit the site and are immediately blinded by the default bright layout or overwhelmed by the older structure. This extension fixes those visual annoyances with a proper dark/purple theme and smoother design elements. (I absolutely love the original site, no hate at all!)

See it in action

Check out the video attached to this post! I show most pages, dropdowns, buttons, and a side-by-side comparison with the extension turned off (address bar included for transparency).

Where to get it

Because Reddit automatically filters out external hosting links, I have put the project link directly on my Reddit profile bio/pinned post, or you can comment below and I'll DM it to you!

Quick Info

Why isn't it on the Chrome Web Store? It costs a registration fee, and given the nature of the site this skin is built for, it would likely get rejected anyway.

Is it safe? Yes! It's open-source and served in plain text so you can inspect every single line of code yourself before adding it to your browser.

Enjoy! If you catch any bugs, please let me know in the comments or shoot me a DM. My ultimate dream is to somehow get noticed by the official team 👀 (hey, a person can dream!).

P.S. Installation Tip: If you get an error trying to load the unpacked extension in developer mode, make sure you are selecting the root folder that directly contains the manifest/extension files, not the parent folder it unzipped into!
