star wars vs tdc

has anybody noticed how similar star wars is to the dark crystal? when i watched it the first thing i noticed was how jen reminded me of luke. jen's guide literally died the exact same way yoda did too lol. the movie came out a couple years after so i wonder if it was inspired by it. is this confirmed anywhere or something?
