Adopting a second schnauzer
Hi everyone! I'm thinking of getting a second miniature schnauzer as a companion for my current one and was hoping to get some advice.
My current dog is about 3 years old and I think he would benefit having another dog in the house. He goes to daycare every so often but it's far away as I live in a more secluded area. Overall, he does well with dogs at daycare but on leash, or while being restrained, he is reactive. Other than that, he's a good, obedient dog (when he's not being a stubborn schnauzer).
I know when getting another dog, a puppy would most likely pick up bad habits of the older dog, but the dog I’m thinking of adopting is older (about 5 years old) who is well trained and friendly with other dogs. Is there a possibility my dog will pick up good habits from the older dog on walks etc.? Would getting another dog worsen my current situation?
Thanks in advance for your input! I’m happy to answer any questions!
