Building a deck through the early game, deciding your intended synergy

I'm very new so this could be a very ignorant question but how do you guys go about the early game when it comes to picking the lower tier minions? I never know what to pick in the early game. I've been using the HS deck tracker to lookout for cards to help go for builds but I never know how to transition from the early game junk to an actual synergy. (I understand there is no perfect answer but if you have any rule of thumbs to be mindful of I'd appreciate any advice).

Trying to figure out how to utilize the deck trackers. Can the deck tracker be used to help with like early game decisions? Are there any plugins that I should be downloading on top of it? I was looking through previous posts and see lots of people recommend Firestone but I just hate overwolf tbh. Is the premium worth getting for HS? Would it help more than the vanilla F2P version?
