Nursing school question

Hi all! I'm a junior in high school and dead set on becoming a nurse (hopefully in mother baby or L&D but I know that may change as time goes on). I have a LOT of questions about the process of applying to nursing programs and what they entail but my main question is, is it normal for a college nursing program to only have fall semesters? What do I do during the spring semesters? Apologies if these are stupid questions but my guidance counselor has been absolutely no help with my questions. Any additional advice regarding nursing school / prenursing would be greatly appreciated too!
