A year since I orange pilled
I began purchasing shares of a Bitcoin miner (Bitfarms) in early 2024 as a cyclical investment, hoping for a high ROI without really understanding Bitcoin at the time. To my surprise, it didn’t perform well post-halving, but I kept DCA’ing in until it became a significant part of my portfolio. Rather than selling at a loss, I held and as a bag holder by circumstance, I finally took the time to actually learn about Bitcoin. By early 2025, I had opened my first hot wallet and made my first direct purchase.
What kept me from selling my miner stock deep in the red, and what eventually pushed me to buy Bitcoin directly despite a suppressed market?
Conviction. It came from learning from people in this space, like Saylor (always a pleasure listening to him), voices on X, reading the Standard, but more importantly, from realizing there’s simply no better alternative to preserve and grow my savings. And it might be the most important decision I’ve made in my life.
I continued stacking sats every payday. I finally sold Bitfarms in October 2025, kept the 4x return for my first home purchase, and haven’t looked back. Now I’m investing 100% in Bitcoin (adding to a cold wallet) and FBTC for tax-free growth, plus my employer’s retirement match which goes into equities right now but when I leave that job, I expect to DCA (or lump sum if I leave soon lol) it all into FBTC in my self-managed account.
My journey started out of pure happenstance, but here I am. I sometimes FOMO on AI stocks or broader index funds and try and convince myself to diversify - but I end up just buying more SATs.
I’m curious, how everyone else got orange-pilled?
