Is there a vast gap in SG and Mumbai servers in terms of skills?

I’m currently D1 , peak D2 and I mostly play Mumbai servers ) . I’ve noticed when I’m watching my friends play (they are all south East Asia) on SG, their aim seems to be a bit better than mine even tho they are plats. And I played with my D3 friend on SG and she played sage and got like 27 kills and I was sitting on 9 kills on phoenix (😢) and I genuinely felt like I’m getting shot before I even see the players. Is it really just ping diff or is there an actual skill gap between the servers? I wanna play more with them since solo queueing sucks and I don’t have any friends who play in Mumbai so it sucks but I feel like I’ll Derank instantly lol
