My card debt charged off to Resurgent
I’m in Massachusetts and my $4,200 credit card debt was recently sent to collections with Resurgent after the account charged off in October 2025. I honestly have no idea what I’m supposed to do at this point.
I’ve been unemployed for years, have less than a few hundred dollars total to survive on for food/basic needs, and I’m living on my parents’ sofa, so I’m basically homeless. I don’t own a car, property, savings, investments, or really anything of value. I was also on SNAP/food stamps last month.
I don’t plan on finding work again any time soon. I don’t even know if I should try contacting Resurgent, ignore it for now, ask for hardship options, or if I’m considered judgment proof because I literally have no assets or income.
Has anyone been in a similar situation in Massachusetts? What realistically happens next with a debt like this? What would happen to me? Any advice would help because I’m overwhelmed and don’t know where to start.
