DC5 Episode 10- Edgic & Analysis
Overall Analysis-
Alright! Loving the season so far! The Favorites were a bit mild early on but after trimming some of the fat, we’re finally in a good state of conditions on that tribe. Fans continue to be entertaining with their core six. I’m surprised people are surprised that Ally hasn’t gone home yet, she’s on the cast for a reason and with how her strip looks it’s pretty obvious she will start being relevant again and Benji’s arc came to a close here. One thing to note with some of the faves is that I believe ONC is planning to bring some of them back for another go so some will leave the season with their long-term arcs unsatisfied, Benji is likely a returnee for another future season, Alec’s arc came to a cleaner close so retiring him might be what they’re going for. Some spec on if he’s the merge returnee but I don’t think he warrants it here personally. More spec at the bottom, we have changes!
The Boot-
Benji: OTTM4, pretty obvious. OTT overall. Possible wrap up to his arc in the Rescue Island ep?
Ratings-
Ally: CP4, ever since people hated on her being cast I was rooting for her, she tore the fandom down again <3
Ara: OTTN3, I was thinking MORN considering her strategic approach to getting closer to Nura but the beach scene locked me into OTT
Bruno: UTR1, lol he is so making it far
Dunia: MORP3, P from Nura scene, gained no real negativity from the Oliwia stuff since from the audience perspective it’s Oliwia being clingy while Dunia is kinda just vibing with her bestie
Fiore: MOR2, could convince me to go UTR with how non-present she is in the ep but her confessional about Natalia makes a case for MOR so why not
Gabby: MORP3, obvious P from the beginning scene, I had to leverage if it was MOR or OTT and went MOR since the rest of the ep was a fairly normal portrayal with just her self-doubt scene being OTT
Lake: UTR1, I was gonna pull a DONDI Jordan MOR1 from her scene with Spencer but I doubt that will make sense. Maybe a later re-edit after some hindsight to see if this ep is what turns her around?
Natalia: OTTM5, the writers LOVE her, obvious OTT and obvious M with negativity from Rosa and positivity from the Gabby scene
Nura: MORP3, P from Dunia scene, MOR for sharing her backstory + the tarot cards representing her journey, just didn’t hit complex for me but we’re on the way there
Oliwia: OTTM3, portrayal is mostly negative but I think with how her loneliness was depicted in previous eps, the audience is meant to understand WHY she’s so clingy and can have sympathy for her while also showing the negativity that comes from it
Ren: UTR2
Rosa: CPN4, N from Natalia drama but it’s one of those Ns that aren’t a hit against her if that makes sense, you could even argue M considering Spencer’s confessional about her AURA that effects even him
Sam: UTR2
Spencer: CPN5, the bastard has ANOTHER love triangle in the making
Tom: MOR3, meh his targeting of Fiore is pretty undervalued strategically in the show
Contenders-
Nura is still winning you guys, how far we have come! Sam is a decent #2, his low vis indicates he is long for the game as well which helps his case. The only issue is I need to figure out a more concrete prediction for what his storyline will be, I feel it’s been kinda murky other than just being Alejandro and the secret little backstory about his husband which they’re saving up for later. I’m holding onto him as a second place contender but I need some more solid character building next ep, otherwise he’ll be in the same spot as Spencer/Fiore.
Alright some changes in the #3 and #4 spots! Dunia has been bumped down until further notice, my original prediction was Ren going home due to Oliwia’s shenanigans, but apparently the set up is for Dunia. They could throw a fast one on us and surprise eliminate Ren instead, but Dunia doesn’t seem to have much of a character arc besides stuff relating to her two allies. Ren has been overexposed so I initially thought he would be the last Fan leaving pre-merge but perhaps Dunia will get a bump up of screentime in the edit before being sent out to kick up Nura’s arc for merge? Either way not a good sign for her, but I’ll keep her in contention as a backup.
Rosa Maria has taken the #3 spot, she was set up with distinction in the premiere of NOT being in the cringe Cyan alliance (despite lowkey being in it) and her relationship to Anastasia and Lake being noted down. UTR for a bit but she’s having her breakout, with new relationships being forged. The knock against her is I’m not 100% seeing her as a winner just yet, something is off. Still great ep for her.
At #4 is Spencer, I’ve held off on him as a contender for a while; he’s had consistent screentime with high vis elims and MOR2s during the downtime. This ep he’s had a new arc set up, his way of playing the game has been highlighted and we’re likely to see a change in his gameplay in addition to his new relationship with Rosa taking a more personal turn and realizing his mistreatment of Bruno. I could see him being a big time merge boot, I could see him being the runner up, I can see him being the winner, he’s at #4 because he can really go anywhere so I’m not confident either way.
Fiore remains a strategic-based character, Oliwia is a mess so lowkey in contention considering this is DC lol, Natalia’s winner stocks are not looking great, Lake is going far but I’m not sure what the result of her arc will be, Ren’s positive edit is too…well positive.
Everyone else is drawing dead but an Ally win would be so funny.
Aiden and Aubrey are my main guesses for Rescue Island returnee but after DC4 I’m not gonna stick my neck out on that one.
Anyway, Oliwia is WINNING.
