How do people get hookups/dates?

I'm 30m and never had a relationship. I'm an introvert and probably on the spectrum, making social interaction very awkward most of the time. I'm wondering for the average person, how hard or easy is it supposed to be to find a partner? As a guy, how common is it for girls to approach you first?

My friend groups are mostly guys and their gfs/wives so its been extremely rare for me to run into a single girl these days. I'm also alcohol intolerant so bars are out of the question. I tried a few dating apps but the experience was terrible and it felt more like a job application so I uninstalled them. If you were in my shoes, what would you do?
