Reliable vehicle

Is there any way to find a truly reliable vehicle? I understand keeping up with maintenance and such is a must. Maybe a mechanic could chime in on what they see the least of? 😅
I need a vehicle for my son that will be reliable when he drives 50 miles for work one way while he is at his dads, that doesn’t have me constantly worrying about a CEL or possibly overheating *cough Cruze*
That baby is currently under warranty and is already going in the shop for a second time before we’ve even received the plates 🙃 I could literally die from stupidity and anxiety.
Any advice or help is so appreciated!
