If there is one overlooked aspect killing animated originality like a cancer: all the good ideas are wasted as live-action

I think many of us are in agreement that there has been a drought of originality where many studios are either relying on sequels, doing live-action remakes or underpromoting their original projects like Elio or subjecting them to garbage writing and characters like Wish and Strange World but I feel there is one thing many are overlooking but I'm personally getting really sick of and that how in a move that's purely done for risk-aversion is how it seems like many original ideas for movies and TV shows are getting wasted for live-action junk.

Whether it be present cases like Artemis Fowl or Percy Jackson or in future projects like Legend of Zelda or Chris Colfer's The Land of Stories (one of my favorite books right now), I'm starting to get so sick and tired of how in an era of Arcane, Spider-Verse and other game-changers of animation, we still have studios and book authors who are afraid of trying something new with animation so along with LA remakes and sequels, we often see good ideas for potentially great animated projects going down the drain to become generic, uninspired LA projects that often have story elements from their source material altered, like the ages of the characters because of how the actors are kids, or removed because they can't replicate it in live-action.

And for what? Just because the Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones were successful as live-action doesn't mean it's a guarantee it'll be the same for you and sadly, many of these studios often use these shows and films as excuses to not try and they would also pull of the "live-action gets more views" card and that doesn't work because the true things that get more views are strong characters, faithfulness to source material, and a robust story so live-action, in the end, is a crutch and considering how we've been seeing so much of them lately, it's becoming too much and considering how often, the choice to make them LA was often influenced by the suits in their desire for more views and often, they end up sucking, it adds in to their soulless quality because the creative choices were influenced by profit over creativity.

And as Percy Jackson demonstrated, live-action can also be a restrictive that medium that can make things regarding fantast elements, from monsters to magical setting, and the ages of kid characters, complicated to where some of that stuff ends up getting removed.

Either way, I hope this trend comes to a stop and more creators and studios are open to having original animated ideas instead of trying to have their next Harry Potter

I despise how great ideas for animation are wasted as live-action trend chasing and "bigger audiences"
