My poppy playtime chapter 4 remake

Beginning: Ok so as you guys know chapter 4 wasn’t that great, to some enemies not being used, like the nightmare critters and pianosaurus, to some being underutilized like the doctor and Yarnaby. As well as the tapes and notes padding out the game. So if we’re going to have that many notes or tapes, might as well make the actual gameplay longer to fit, an underutilized game is worse than a long one. Note that the things I do not mention are things I don’t think need to be rewritten

So first let’s do some setup, the beginning is mostly the same but we’ll see pianosaurus sleeping on one of the mountain of smiling critter bodies, he’s now much bigger than when he was created since the excess of food and bodies and then he’ll get scared off when the alarm sounds off due to how loud it is and then the critters attack you.

Harley still views Pianosaurus as a failure, but one that surprised him about how capable he is but his function has not been needed for years and trying to “tame” him has proved impossible due to his intelligence and his tendency to attack anything he sees. Second I’m getting rid of the note of Harley Sawyer’s document of Yarnaby and instead he’d tell you how Yarnaby used to rip off his toys heads and how he isolated it, this gives him more voice lines since he desperately needs some, the dead bodies will also have some of their heads off since, y’know. Also for Yarnaby's first chase, I would get rid of this chase and instead have it as another crouching section where we escape by following where Doey points to.

Pianosaurus: The pianosaurus section happens right after, being your last hurdle to reach safe haven, it’s a very dark sewer area with the clinking of his piano keys, the drawings of the comic of him getting kicked out of safe haven for dancing (killing one of the critters) are around the floor where he's eating the pile of nightmare critters with some crayons. Just as a little nod and for those in game to have the idea that he isn’t some mindless monster walking around.

The way this section would work is you have no hiding spots and you just need to sneak through the darkness without making noise by crouching. Just because he's looking your way doesn't mean he sees you, like a dinosaur he has poor vision, you’ll need to move to notice you're there, if he's walking towards you while you're still and he’s not alert, a minigame would play where you would have to play the exact keys pianosaurus is playing at to same time to fool him into thinking he’s just playing his own notes while crouching away. Your main goal is to get this explosive to blow up a hole to get in that hook room near safe haven, once you do it alerts pianosaurus to you and the pianosaurus death scene happens and you meet Doey etc etc. Pianosaurus would just be playing random keys while roaming, his piano keys turn red when he sees you, and his jumpscare is him dancing on you before opening his mouth and lunging his head at you.

Nightmare critters: Oh boy do I have plans for them, first I’d include their cutouts in safe haven, replacing the current ones except for 3 of them being Baba chops, icky licky, and Touille mostly to not cramp them all in there all in one place.

There’s only going to be 2 bigger bodies which are baba chops and icky licky, they’ll be stalking you but never attack until the doctor orders them to in the previous baba chops section. The non bigger bodies will too get a rework with Rabie baby finally getting wings for arms and her and Poe are able to fly now, they swoop down at you and you’d need to aim in the air to shoot them down. The section with the bigger bodies is different, Icky Licky climbs on walls and jumps around so you need to watch above you to be sure he isn’t there. And for baba chops, he’ll have something special.

Safe haven sidequests: So safe haven would be the same except there are broken CRTs around showing how the doctor can’t reach them there, and you could actually talk with a select few of the kids, the dialogue of the others talking about poppy and you are still there. You can talk to Bobby Bearhug aka Izzy as she’s known in the files, Edd who’s a kicken chicken, Doey after the cutscene, and scout the boogie bot. Each one has a sidequest, for Doey you need to find the book he wanted in one of his cut dialogue, where this book is at is one one the nightmare critters stole the book to read it to the rest of the nightmare critters since it also made them feel happy.

After returning it you’ll be able to hear him read it to the children and make his hands into the book characters, for Izzy, it’s her birthday and you’ll need to get her a present in secret which is a plush you and Doey go find together, it’s a doey plush, for Edd you have to get revenge on a certain meddlesome Toullie plush that has been stealing from safe haven, we hunt him down and eventually find his stash of stolen stuff and return it to safe haven, we'll get some lore as to why the nightmare critters split up told to us by Edd, we don't get the full story only what Edd heard.

The last one is a scouting mission with scout and medic to find food from the toy graveyard, here we'll learn the full reason why the nightmare and smiling critters broke off since the prototype apparently offered them and the critters with catnap with some sort of deal if they worked with the doctor, after we get some food we defend the other toys from an attack from the nightmare critters but it's too much, until Doey appears and scares all of them away. At this point all of safe haven now loves you including Doey, you've brought so much hope to safe haven and they can thank you enough, even one of the kids in Doey, Kevin, smiles at you now talking to you and saying at the end “Welcome to the family!” You're such a great person I mean look at all you helped! Shame if something happened to them.

D-O-E-Y Doey!: Doey’s personality wouldn’t change much, it’s the same, but I’d still like to make changes to the kids in Doey. Matthew would stay the same since overall he talks the most out of the 3, Jack I’d only give him more voice lines to show how he’s just a kid and also make him more angry at Kevin since he killed his parents out of anger but not angry to the point he isn’t willing to work with him, for Kevin I feel like Kevin would slowly get used to you over the chapter and even though he gets angry a lot, after completing every sidequest, as said above, makes him finally like you enough to call you part of the family. He’d also show up a little for no man's land a little to help you out, but state he won’t be there for long since the doctor freezes him

The hands colors on Doey would also change depending on who’s talking, each kid with their respective colors. The Doey section would stay the same but instead each kid would want to actually kill you, Matthew isn’t resisting but isn’t attacking, he’s mostly sulking and is just letting Kevin and Jack attack you, Jack is mostly having a temper tantrum and now hates you, and Kevin you can already guess. His death would stay the same but Kevin actively tries to force himself out to attack you while dying.

Yarnaby: The big section with Yarnaby hunting you down I love, but the chase I do not, and I don’t think he should die in a vat of lava or die at all at this point. For the chase make it so you’d need to swing more with more hooks and some use with the purple hand in getting away. At the end he does get hooked and on fire but there is no lava pit. Ok here’s a twist, remember the bigger body baba chops? Yeah say bye to him since burnt Yarnaby runs in and instantly rips their head off, and screeches at you, icky licky runs away as soon as he sees yarnaby coming to behead chops.

This is where the final Yarnaby confrontation happens, when Yarnaby spots you he will charge at you head on and won’t stop until he hits the wall behind you, it’s instant death when he catches you. Near the end Icky Licky appears and starts trying to attack you like the baba chops in the original but not as persistent, fleeing in fear when Yarnby appears. The puzzle in the section stays the same.

At the end instead of the critter you have to kill, the doctor instead takes Yarnaby and tells you the same thing in the original game, the door will open and icky licky and all the nightmare critters will come in and kill you, or you kill Yarnaby knowing his backstory, there is no escape this time. You press the button and the doctor in some twisted irony, beheads Yarnaby. I’d also have people in safe haven mention Yarnaby since he’s mostly forgotten about there and no one even says his name other than the doctor, not poppy, doey, or anyone in safe haven even mentioned him.

The Doctor/Doctor Harley Sawyer:Let's talk outside the confrontation first. More voice lines are definitely needed and monitor screens so we can see his new expressions that never made it in game, even if we already know his character it’s still nice to hear him antagonize us. Ollie would also call us in no man's land and try to start explaining the theater incident only for his signal to be cut off by the doctor. Then we finally get an explanation on the theater incident from the doctor himself.

I would add that for each sidequest we’re doing he’s watching us through different screens, he’d say things like “Interesting” or “Noted” when a sidequest is completed and then bring them up saying to us how all our action though heroic to the safe haven, you’re still hurting the nightmare critters after all they’re still children too, you’ve done effectively what the doctor does to those who venture out of safe haven safe haven, are you really that much better? Even if you didn’t do any sidequests he’d also patronize you on that too, you may be helping the nightmare critters but all the toys in safe haven aren’t in a better spot because of you.

Section 1: Instead of the goal being to just get to the doctor, I think the part where we destroy his organs can be moved to the doctor section itself and in its place can be us destroying his security system to get to the section itself. We then destroy his liver in this section. The main section is just the same section where we collect batteries but at the end when we’re going up to the doctors room we are tricked again as his main body throws us down another trap door, deciding to finally handle us himself. I’m bringing his organs closer because I feel like the doctor wouldn’t have his organs out in the open

Section 2: Remember that cut doctor design that was taller than the player? Yeah that's his main body now and he and Icky Licky are now trying to get you, he’s quite more serious with you since you haven’t died yet. The way he works is that he has the screens that he can use to spy on you and figure out where you are when he’s trying to get you, once you are spotted he charges to that area and you need to leave there as quickly as possible, Icky Licky will work the same but this time you’ll kill him in this section by shooting an explosive in the area making him fall into electrified water. After killing Icky Licky the doctor sneaks up on you. But instead of attacking right after, the doctor offers you a choice, he’s seen you throughout the factory and sees your capabilities.

You mastered all in the game station, beat several bigger bodies including his own 3 times in a row, somehow stayed awake for a considerable amount of time while being surrounded by red smoke from himself and catnap and even bested him twice, and offered to become an experiment stating you’re the most perfect subject to be tested on and that you’d be helping humanity finally receiving immortality. So away in the first time we ever see our protagonists body or at least arm, since he’ll straight up punch the doctors face in anger and runs away starting a chase

I know what I show here isn’t really that scarier than other chapters, but I’m sure the gameplay in this rewrite would be great if put to form, or at least better than what we have now with chapter 4. If you have any critiques please feel free to say, as well as to all who read all of this, I thank you.
