City Land Surveying

I perform Boundary and Title surveys in cities with buildings that are sometimes five stories and up, and said buildings take up the entire, if not the majority of the lots they are on.

The constant challenge is referencing measurements from rear yards to the roof and the street features. Currently, my company's workflow consists of measuring specific features on roofs and, at times, traversing using a total station or laser scanner through buildings.

I was curious about everyone else's workflow when performing similar work in cities. I also wonder if using GNSS receivers is a possible option as opposed to traversing and conducting a resection method.
