Is it okay to attend a 10-year reunion from a school you didn’t actually graduate from?
I attended the school for years, everyone there knew me well, and I was friends with a lot of people there. We’ve lost touch over the years, but when I run into people from there, we still chat and it’s friendly.
I didn’t attend graduation because I ended up leaving and starting college early instead. Back then, there was a pretty significant falling out involving me, my parents, and the principal (I was a rebellious teen, and honestly, I know I gave the school a lot of problems too). My parents had been donors to the school and probably would have remained donors had things ended differently.
It’s been about 13 years now. This is a very religious school, and part of why I’m thinking about it is that I’m actually considering sending my daughter there someday (in about a year or so).
Would it be weird or inappropriate to attend the reunion even though I didn’t graduate with them? Or since I was part of the class/community for years and people knew me well, would it be acceptable?
