In a fleet, which type of vessel is the most numerous?

When I hear about the four types of ships in a fleet – destroyers, cruisers, battleships, carriers – I usually think that destroyers would be the most numerous, and battleships would be rarer.

But it seems, according to Gineipaedia, that cruisers are actually the most numerous, followed by battleships; destroyers, due to their role as screen escorts and their lower gun power, seem to be far fewer in number, while carriers are certainly the fewest?
