Has Kobo Disabled Third Party Styluses?

I was looking at buying a stylus for my KLC but I came across some posts suggesting that Kobo has removed support for many of the recommended alternatives floating around in the subreddit.

I jumped from Kindle to Kobo but it seems there really isn't any decent tech company. Only very shitty and less shitty.
