After my third Deltarune playthrough of Chapters 3-4, I will say, even if I don't know if this has already been noticed (I didn't check), I noticed that Malius (I tried to send this photo from my Switch 2 (which my parents bought me for Christmas even though I was worried people would judge me for it but I didn't want to be mean and still appreciated them taking a risk for me) but failed to get it to the Nintendo Switch app so I just took a photo of it from my phone) says that they need a master of bread. They have gluten intolerance, apparently, and this is some sort of forbidden technique. (Forbidden, like the forbidden path, and their role in potentially making the Twisted Sword with the Thorn Ring and Pure Crystal later in the Weird Route? Or you could abort the weird route after getting the Thorn Ring.)

A darkner not yet in castle town, evidently. I cannot think of any NPCs in the Dark Sanctuaries that represent bread or wheat (see the third image, which I will cover soon), except Wafers, likely Darkner counterparts to Communion wafers (made of wheat, indubitably) in the Church. This isn't really mentioned, however. I don't know too much about the relationship between Wafers and Organikks. They are ancestors to each other in the 1st and 2nd Sanctuaries, and disagree with each other in the third. The Organikks theorize (like I'm doing now) more than the Wafers. They formed in Susie's 2nd Sanctuary (either corresponding to the sections of the Prophecy about the heroes or her intrinsically more interpretative will (I already knew the latter, I had to look up the former ( [https://www.reddit.com/r/Deltarune/comments/1ld9d8c/what\_do\_you\_think\_causes\_the\_chapter\_4\_darkners/](https://www.reddit.com/r/Deltarune/comments/1ld9d8c/what_do_you_think_causes_the_chapter_4_darkners/) )), and even though the Knight most certainly made the other two Sanctuaries, they are only present in the 3rd. Organikks are very cryptic, but have mentioned things like LOVE, Angel, the "girl who snows," and other buzzwords. Those may be the more important ones. With all I know about Organikks and Wafers, however, the only thing I MIGHT know about wheat/wafers is that it represents adherence to not questioning things about the prophecy and fate. That would be a continuing theme in Chapter 5, seen with Susie and Ralsei.

Anyways, this dialogue originally caught my eye because the Forgotten Man, who himself is implied to be someone who knew Kris in their past in a mental hospital as they tried to repress/cover up their possible trauma of Dess's disappearance, perhaps related to their promise the Caller mentioned at the end of Chapter 4, in Mancountry in Chapter 3, mentions his availability to Kris, corresponding to the different days of the week for each chapter and egg locations (except for Mancountry, which is on the same day as Chapter 4, Saturday). Sunday, Chapter 5, involves harvesting wheat, which makes bread, suggesting that, if a Wafer couldn't help Malius (which you encounter after their gluten intolerance mention) with making bread, a Darkner of Chapter 5 could. Possibly a single character, and not a recurring enemy, given a mention of just one master, although "a" is an indefinite article that could imply there is more than one master of bread.

A wheat location would tie into a field of pink and gold, a common reason cited for Flower King to be the location of the next Dark World, a series of Dark Worlds, or a Dark World in Chapter 5. I don't know if this fits in too well to the "Deltarune Dark World locations are Undertale locations in reverse" theory, given the fact that Chapter 5 would have to represent Snowdin. But then again, the Chess theory wasn't that strictly followed, Chapter 3 was moreso based on the TV aspect of Hotland than the lava, and even had the Cold Place, possible revelations about the Holidays could compensate for this (given their ties to Christmas symbolism) and Flower King couldn't be the only Dark World. Perhaps an entirely different building, the Holidays' mansion, could account for the Snowdin theming.

Not all of these theories were mine. I just pick up on patterns and draw upon what I can. I miss a lot. The "copies are monochrome" line went over my head, for instance, and while finishing this I checked the wiki and learned that the Pure Crystal could be what Seam makes from all Shadow Crystals in Chapters 5 or 6. Also, if I misgender Malius here and forget to remove erroneously masculine pronouns, I apologize in advance. I only learned of their pronouns today, and Seam's a few months ago. No matter how many wiki citations one's pronouns have, I will do my best to destigmatize and normalize it by referring to these characters properly.

TLDR: Malius says they need a master of bread. Wafers encountered afterward are the Darkner counterparts of a wheat product, possibly tying the symbolism of wheat to their adherence to fate. If not, given that the Forgotten Man mentions his Sunday location as harvesting wheat, this could support the idea that a sole or one of many masters of bread Darkner would appear, supporting the idea that Chapter 5 takes place in one or more Flower King Dark Worlds. Unless the Holiday's mansion is involved.

This took like an hour

Is This Line Of Dialogue From Malius Significant To Chapter 5?
