What sort of "Demo clips" should I upload on actor's access for theatre submissions? I do both plays and musicals and am interested in regional theatre and tours.
For those that have used Actor's Access to submit for theatre casting opportunities, what kind of material do you use as demo clips? I'm new to the platform and a bit lost since I'm not sure what would be efficient to put on my profile given the $22/minute cost for each upload.
- I'm interested in both plays and musicals, do I need different clips for each type of project? Like song clips and monologues or scene work with a reader? I assume musicals would want a dance clip as well?
- Should all of these different clips for different types of material be in separate uploads or in one longer reel? How long should these be?
- For songs and monologues, which genres/styles should I upload and how many different ones should I upload? I tend to lean more towards classic musicals and contemporary plays but would want to cast a wide net as much as possible.
- When submitting, do I choose which clips to send or can they view anything on my profile?
- I'm nonunion, but have worked at local equity regional theatres in nonunion tracks. Can I submit to breakdowns that are AEA only?
- I'm mainly interested in regional theatre and nonunion tours, should I mainly stick to the NYC breakdowns or should I frequently check out the breakdowns like New England and Midwest?
