I do believe I just fried an ESP32 board.

Remove power BEFORE moving the strung-together breadboards and breakout boards! Learn from my mistake!

I have been working on a proximity card reader project to control the deadbolt (and perform other functions) in my workshop. I had to move it earlier today, so I picked up the two boards (breadboard and breakout for the ESP Dev board) and moved them. Noticed my bench supply was indicating 4.something volts output instead of 12 (the reader needs 12). The 12V input powers everything - the reader and the ESP board. I suspect something moved and shorted either the 5V supply or the 12V supply to one (or more) of the ESP pins.

I pulled the ESP board from the breakout and hooked it directly up to a USB-C port. Dead. Shuffled off it's mortal coil. Pushing up daisies. It's and ex-ESP Dev Board.

It was a stupid move. I should not have had it powered when I moved it, given it was somewhat dodgy wiring to get everything the signals it needs and where it needed them. My own fault. Just posting so I can serve as a warning to others.

I will make a post at some point with the whole thing - I have a few things to iron out yet, but it is mostly done. The code is working. The hardware is working. The logic seems to be working. Mainly some physical aspects that need to be handled - making the circuit a bit more permanent, mounting and wiring the reader and LED for the outside, the circuit for the inside, little things like that.
