Before the night ends, I wanted to post a farewell to Prince, our best friend for almost 14 years. The events of today weren’t expected. We were trying to get honed in on his new food requirements, after what we thought was a recent diagnosis of chronic pancreatitis. We took him to the vet today, after what I thought was a flare up, to find out he had internal bleeding, from a tumor on his spleen or liver. As the vet was talking, I quickly understood what was happening and my heart dropped. I asked the vet if he could do a home euthanasia in a couple days and he said Prince probably wouldn’t make it that long and that he would be suffering and we didn’t want to do that to him.
Here’s to the biggest derp, who didn’t meet a person (or animal) he wasn’t instant best friends with. He was the most gentle soul and the best foster brother to all the dogs that have come through the house and especially the best brother to our other two dogs that went to the rainbow bridge the last couple of years. The pain is simmering and overflows with any little thought of his adorable quirkiness.
As much as my heart is broken (again), he knew how much we loved him, because we told him all day, every day, even as he transitioned over to meet his brothers, who I’m sure were waiting to welcome him. I love you so much, Mr. Perfect. Please come visit me in my dreams💜

Sweet soul
