Morally speaking, is it ok to ask this question?

Do you think it’s ok that the wife asks her husband if he slept with someone every time he’s away for work or with his friends and vice versa?

My friend and I got into a heated debate yesterday over this. I personally think it’s insulting to ask a husband or a wife this when you are married. You made vows, there should be respect and trust. If my husband asked me this, I’d probably be upset as in my opinion (again) that neither spouse sleeps with someone else anywhere, trip or not. it goes without saying.

My friend on the other hand is saying that she thinks it’s fine and the spouse’s right to ask. My argument was that if I reached the level that I need to ask such a blatant question and which odds are %99.99999 they’d deny if they did, trust is broken and it’s game over.
