35M and ex F30 I don't understand her comportement

We lived together for more than six years. She left me in February, saying, “I can’t do this anymore.” She was tired of waiting for marriage and of our financial instability.

Three days ago, she told me that she had been seeing a new guy for at least five weeks, but that it’s already over. It ended badly with the police involved, and she had to file a complaint. However, since the breakup, we had still been texting every day and seeing each other at her place, at mine, or outside — all while she already had another guy. I still had hope that we would get back together, and she knew that very well.

The guy was rich — he earned ten times my salary. There is a restraining order against him.

What do you think about this situation and her behavior? I told this story to a psychologist, and she suggested counseling sessions with my ex and me. Do you think that’s normal even if we’re no longer a couple?

TL;DR:

35M, 6+ year relationship ended in February because she wanted marriage and more financial stability. After the breakup, we kept seeing and talking to each other daily, and I still hoped to reconcile.

She recently told me she had been seeing another man for ~5 weeks during that time, but it ended badly (police involved, restraining order). He was much wealthier than me.

I’m confused because she was still in close contact with me while seeing him. A psychologist suggested joint counseling with my ex, and I’m wondering if that makes sense even though we’re no longer together.
