I went to school to be a nurse and dietitian, let me tell you about weight gain.
I am sure you guys already know but the health side effects of gaining weight and getting fat are there, but what is neved mentioned is that losing an equal amount of weight would be fatal for most, there are many categories of overweight but only a few of skinny. Humans evolved to be larger, we were hunter gatherers who needed to prepare for scarcity. The diet industry is a rather new invention and has made several billion dollars selling diets to make people unhealthy and trying to sell a thin ideal which does not match up with biology. If you look up online there are ads for gaining weight prior to the diet industry but they are hard to find. Bmi was invented by an insurance company, it isnt very accurate, and even then people with bmis in the overweight to obese range live longer and healtheir lives. All mental health issues from weight comes from society while people who are underweight are going to be depressed from lack of nutrients. The list goes on. Why do people act like this isnt true, why dont people look into the numbers and studies and instead just follow blindly? Why is weight gain a fetish but weight loss isn't? There are enough people here that you can please spread the message. I have been trying to spread it elsewhere but they arent receptive because its too counter cultural. But you are normal parts of culture too and can influence it, not to sound judgemental but ive seen a lot of you guys online not feel like a part of society, but you exist and can spread the word. One day you won't be judged for your views and thats a world I want to see. In this digital age its easier than ever, you all can make accounts and post about it, im hoping the truth will spread like wildfire because this has gone on too long.
