Why do so many people just run away alone or fight alone

Does no one pay attention to their surroundings at all I swear my teammates just take off without paying attention. I swear the amount of time I have to sit in the middle and try to wrangle people together is insane. It's next level babysitting just to get from one POI to the next POI
