375 Raptor reliability and real velocity
I got caught up in the 6.5 Grendel craze and before I knew it I had 3 high end builds that wouldn’t feed reliably. $500 in magazines later and they feed reliably enough for stationary shooting, but wouldn’t feel comfortable running around a course using them. I’m considering a 13” 375 Raptor conversion for my SCAR 17. Deadshot said they could do a 1:8 twist and thread pitch of my choosing. I’ll use a KNS DiSCARder and if I do go forward I’ll get a Liberty Anthem V2 338. Obviously mine will be feeding from SCAR mags, but do you find that this round feeds reliably?
Also I’m looking at load data it appears that Alliant 1200 R is preferred for the 200-250s. I’ve got a good amount of N130 which is right below it on the burn rate chart so I planned to use that with the 235 Speer and either the 225 Maker or TSX. Anyone have any first hand experience with velocity on a similar set up?
I planned to use H110 for 400 grain Makers subs. H110 Is right below Lil Gun and N110 which people seem to like.
I’d appreciate any experience you have before I dump a bunch of money into this that could go to upgrading from a 5-25x ATACR to a 7-35x ATACR or replacing the Hybrid 46M with a TBAC 338 Ultra Gen 2 on my MRAD.
