Welcome to r/aubel
Hi. I'm the solo founder of Aubel.
The app launched on the App Store today. The web version's been live at aubel.app/play for a couple of days. This subreddit is where the conversation about it lives: updates, feature requests, bug reports, questions about ear training, whatever's useful.
For anyone who hasn't seen it yet:
Aubel is an ear-training app for music students. Three games (intervals, scales, chords) plus a Mixed mode that rotates all three. What makes it different from other ear-training apps is that it ties daily practice to two things you already do every day: a morning alarm that won't dismiss until you've named today's interval, and a Screen Time shield that gates Instagram, TikTok, whatever you doomscroll, behind a quick ear-training challenge.
$4.99 once. No subscriptions. iPhone, iPad, and any browser at aubel.app/play.
Why I built it: freshman year, second semester, I failed Aural Skills II. I'm a heavy sleeper, I missed too many 8am classes, the piano in the practice room never stuck, and the couple of apps I tried after that didn't either. Aubel is the app I'd send back to myself. It's also for anyone else with the intention to practice ear training daily and the reality of not doing it.
What this sub is for:
- Aubel updates and release notes
- Feature requests (post them, I read everything)
- Bug reports (please include your iOS version + device)
- Questions about how the app works
- General ear-training and aural-skills talk
I'll be active here. AMA whenever you've got questions.
Welcome.
