When we smashed past Oldco+Newco's trophy and title haul, I wondered if we'd start shouting "words most successful club".

I'm relieved to see we haven't.

For a start, as I understand it, it was never strictly true with Al Ahly a few trophies ahead. But it's also a bit cringey in my opinion.

The same club who claimed to be the world's most successful club, also claimed that Jimmy Bell was the "world's greatest Kitman", and that the Louden is the "Worlds best tavern".

It's like a 4 year old who thinks their favourite toy is the best in the world.

It's also quite a complex conversation, that leads you to think if an UEFA Champions League/European Cup is the same as English Community Shield or League cup. It's further complicated by the fact that some countries have an extra cup competition in some places.

For me, and I say this as someone who prefers Barca, Real Madrid are the holders of this acclaim. I don't think their European Cup and World Club Cup haul will be matched any time soon. Albeit their domestic success during the Franco era is questionable.

I'm personally delighted to be top in a country where we were supposed to be the "others", and I am glad we have more class than our rivals.

Worlds most successful club? (Not for me)
