Are turbines worth it?

Like I have a few friends who have them but I don't have as much money as them. The 3 main reasons why I'm even considering them is realistic( sound and smell), flight time and the cool factor. I really like edf jets especially poweful composite edf jets but I want to know opinions from people who owned turbines if they are worth the huge price difference.
