Question from somebody wanting to buy
Hi all.
I'm likely selling my swift sport this winter as I finally accept I need something bigger for the kids etc (back doors would also help). The car that easily fits the bill best and is within my budget is a Leon FR 1.4, post 2015, 60-70k miles. Budget £8-12k (ish). There are obviously loads of cars I could buy in that budget but I'd prefer to have something that has a 'bit of go about it' rather than some 10 second econobox.
The last several cars I have owned have all been chain driven cam, and buying a leon with around 60k on the clock would (I guess) usually put it right in belt change territory. However I know that some manufacturers are sticking crazy belt change intervals on their service schedules now.
As a bargaining tool/thing to check on 'full service history' cars, could anybody with a 1.4 TSI please tell me, according to the service book, what the official manufacturer interval is for the cambelt in miles and/or years for this engine? I've found it very difficult to find the official service schedule online - although plenty of people happy to advise on when they think it ought to be done!
Many thanks in advance for your help!
