what do you think of the “feminine energy” and “masculine energy” theories?

my friends were discussing today that they want dominant men who can lead and they want to follow them and be protected. this somehow did not sound right to me but i cant really pin point how its wrong.

they think women are in their “feminine energy” when they are being loved right and when the men are in their “masculine energy” but doesn’t this sound very sexist? like it defines the way men and women should be. there are so many podcasts and influencers who preach the same things but i don’t think these things are backed by study or research.

what are your thoughts on this? i am really curious about this topic :)
