Literally the worst practical ever

DISCUSSION

So I'm on my first practical, and I am literally at a loss for words. So much so I need to vent but do not quite know how in my state of exhaustion and confusion!

I'm at a low socio-economic school, and the behaviour is preeeetty shocking, which, to be fair, I did expect.

What I did not expect tho was to be the second pre-service teacher to my mentor, with a final prac student observing mostly the pre-service teacher's lessons, who is consistently being pulled up by the mentor for not doing things the exact way she wants them done.

I've managed to get observations done with other teachers; however, I have also been subjected to the same unrealistic expectations of being a mind reader and meeting this teacher's expectations when the goal post changes.

I've also been thrown into teaching whole lessons independently from week one, and only receiving negative feedback. I was so fed up earlier in the week and pulled her up on not having legal duty of care for some of the things she was asking me to do, at which she told me not to get upset because I had misunderstood her.

Then today, she decided she would stop talking to me because she asked a student to ask me whether they could go to the toilet while I was teaching, and I gave her a note to let her go; she told me I wasn't supposed to let her go, so I asked her why she told her to ask me in the first place.

She pulled me into a room at the end of the day and told me she was upset because of the way I confronted her in front of the class, and that I should have known what to say, and maybe I had forgotten how things should be done, and to next time to ask her what I should do. Gaslighting much?

I just can't wait for tomorrow to be done!
