Caller claiming to be from Shiv Sena asked for voter details - should I be concerned?

Hi guys, just received a suspicious call from someone claiming to be from Shiv Sena. She was asking for my and my parents’ voter details, and even asked where we voted from back in 2002.

What confused me was the reason she gave. She said there’s some “new government rule” where they have to verify voter details or delete them from the records.

I currently live outside India, so this immediately felt a bit odd to me.

Just wanted to ask:

- Is this actually a real verification process?

- Or was this likely just data mining/scam activity?

Has anyone else received similar calls recently?
